Responsibilities

• Develop and implement innovative machine learning algorithms to manage business risks in Tik Tok's products and platforms.

• Prototype and explore novel solutions, conduct experiments to validate hypotheses, and provide insights to Product and Tech teams.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance current automation processes.

• Build efficient data querying infrastructure for real-time and offline analysis. Identify opportunities to strengthen risk defense solutions.

• Define risk control metrics and promote data-driven practices. Align teams and stakeholders on numeric goals for risk control.

• Document technical processes and effectively communicate results through writing, visualizations, and presentations.

Team context

The E-Commerce Risk Control (ECRC) Team's Mission is to protect Tik Tok e-commerce users (buyers, sellers, creators), make Tik Tok e-commerce the safest and most trusted place worldwide to transact online, and mitigate risk through software systems, risk models, and cross-functional collaboration.

We prevent and detect risk attempts on Tik Tok Shop and mitigate negative impacts on customers and Selling Partners across account integrity, incentive abuse, malicious activities, brushing, click-farm, information leakage, etc. We develop state-of-the-art ML solutions and empower teams to reduce risk through our mechanisms.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research, or related fields.

• Final year or recent graduate in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline.

• Proficiency in modern machine learning theories and applications (ensemble trees, deep neural networks, transfer/multi-task learning, reinforcement learning, graph theory, unsupervised learning).

• Experience with Python, SQL/Hive, and Hadoop.

• Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms with strong problem-solving ability.

• Detail oriented, good time management, and strong analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated software engineering experience from internships, work, coding competitions, or publications.

• Internship or research experience in e-commerce or risk control domain.

• Curiosity towards new technologies and entrepreneurship.

• Creativity and quick problem-solving capabilities.

Job Information

Compensation:
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $118,658 - $168,150 annually. Compensation may vary based on qualifications, skills, and location. Base pay may be eligible for bonuses/incentives and RSUs. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, parental leave, disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, 10 paid holidays, 10 paid sick days, and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated on hire).
