Onsite ASL Interpreter - Washington

Overview

Founded in 1998, Propio Language Services provides interpreting and translation services in more than 350 languages for over 6,000 clients with a diverse and highly experienced staff and over 8,000 contract interpreters. Quality interpretation is critical to our success, and we seek interpreters who are passionate about their work.

We currently have a need for Onsite American Sign Language Interpreters in the Washington area who are committed to helping people through their language skills.

Contract Responsibilities:

• Provides consecutive in-person and virtual interpretation (by phone and video remote) on a first-person basis
• Follows interpreter protocols and procedures as required by Propio L.S. clients
• Follows all Propio L.S. policies and procedures related to information confidentiality and interpreter ethics
• Maintains strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, FERPA, GLBA and/or regulatory requirements or policies and standards
• Establishes and maintains quality service and positive interaction with patients, customers, visitors, health care providers, and clinical staff
• Continuously improves vocabulary and specialized subject matter knowledge for various clients, such as medical, legal, social services, etc.

Requirements:

• Submission of updated resume
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Intermediate level computer skills
• Access to reliable transportation
• Ability to provide documentation of updated vaccinations as required by location and policies (e.g., TB, MMR, Varicella, Hep B or declination, TDAP, Seasonal Influenza, Covid)
• Successful completion of a drug test and Background Check & Security Screen
• A signed commitment to confidentiality, ethics, and HIPAA compliance

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1+ years of interpreting experience

Propio’s evaluation process conforms to interpreting standards defined by:

• National Council on Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC)
• International Medical Interpreters Association (IMIA)
• California Healthcare Interpreters Association (CHIA)
