Senior Medical Interpreter - Trigrigna​/Amhrica

Join Our Team as a Multilingual Medical Interpreter!

We are looking for talented individuals to provide accurate and impartial on-site spoken language interpretation services. Fluency is required in English, Trigrigna, and Amharic.

• Interpret and translate between English and one or more foreign languages or dialects (Trigrigna, Amharic).
• Deliver professional-level medical interpreting, ensuring Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients receive linguistically appropriate care.
• Collaborate with SMC medical personnel to facilitate effective communication.

• Advanced proficiency in oral and written English and both Trigrigna and Amharic.
• Fluent English pronunciation is essential.
• Strong knowledge of medical vocabulary and terminology.

• Bachelor's Degree.
• Continuing education and/or training in medical interpretation competencies, translation and medical terminology.
• 3 years of interpretation experience in a medical clinic or hospital setting.
• 2 years of experience in translation of English and source language; training in translation competencies preferred. Must pass a competency exam and skills assessment.
• Professional training in translation or equivalent experience.
• TMS Translation memory system (SDL Trados or Memoq) experience.
• Experience with Adobe or InDesign.
• Prior video interpreting experience.
• Experience in training adults.

• Upon hire:
  National Certified Medical Interpreter - National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters, or Washington Social Services Interpreter - Washington State Department of Social and Health Services.
• 1 year of interpretation experience in a medical clinic or hospital setting.

Pay range: $29.62 - $45.31 per hour. Additional compensation may be available for shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
