Elias Law Group LLP is a mission driven law firm, dedicated to helping Democrats win, citizens vote, and progressives make change, with offices in Washington, D.C. and Seattle, Washington. We are currently seeking a Corporate Paralegal in our Washington, D.C. office. The Corporate Paralegal will be responsible for performing an array of corporate work for nonprofit clients that include Democratic party committees, PACs, political candidates and 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizations.
A successful applicant will have experience with being an exceptional oral and written communicator and will be adept at prioritizing multiple projects across competing deadlines.

- Expect a base hourly rate ranging from $38.46 - $55.28 depending on experience.
- Assist in the formation, maintenance, and dissolution of nonprofit corporate entities and prepare related organizational documents.
- Draft and file periodic corporate reports and ensure clients remain in good standing with states.
- File client documents with state regulatory agencies, as well as the Federal Election Commission, Internal Revenue Service, and other regulatory bodies.
- Organize and maintain client corporate records; gather, compile and track client organizational documents in corporate notebooks.
- Communicate with clients and state and federal regulatory bodies via e‑mail and phone.
- Develop new tactics and systems for client record maintenance.
- Coordinate client file openings with the regional registration agent within the specified territories.
- Perform legal research and stay on top of new developments in state corporate filing requirements.
- Handle the audit representation letters from ELG clients.
- Perform federal, state and local campaign finance research and assist with candidate and committee reporting.
- Vet donors for various types of political committees and nonprofits.
- Provide rapid, post‑election recount and applicable litigation support to attorneys and clients, as needed.
- Design, edit and proofread legal briefings, memos and Power Points to create work product that is visually coherent and grammatically sound.
- Prepare material for production and distribution in response to inquiries from multiple federal and state regulatory authorities; liaise with the firm’s resource departments and outside vendors to produce materials within deadline.
- Work collaboratively with other paralegals to divide tasks and proactively address coverage gaps among the firm’s priorities.
- Maintain positive and productive contact with attorneys, staff members and clients while observing confidentiality of client matters.
- Excellent attention to detail, proven research skills, sound judgement and a deep interest in the intersection between corporate and political law.
- Adaptability and flexibility in an effort to accommodate multiple working styles.
- Assist with other client and firm administrative projects as needed.
- A Bachelor’s degree is required and a minimum of two (2) years of corporate paralegal experience in a law firm or business environment is preferred. A strong interest or background in politics is preferred.
- Applicants must have excellent organization and prioritization skills and show an enthusiasm for all phases of regulatory support.
- Experience with forming, maintaining, and dissolving corporate entities and preparing organizational documents is required, and experience with nonprofit corporations is a plus.
- Fluency in the various Microsoft Office applications is essential to this role, and experience using Westlaw, Lexis Nexis and other legal search engines is very helpful.
- Legal cite checking skills (or a willingness to quickly learn) is a plus.
- Position will operate on a hybrid schedule in a professional office environment and is expected to work in office at least three (3) days a week (Tues, Wed, Thurs). The ability to work additional hours beyond the normal schedule may be required, especially around relevant election dates or filing periods. Some infrequent travel is required.
