OpenAI's Legal team plays a crucial role in furthering OpenAI's mission by tackling innovative, fundamental legal issues in AI. If you're passionate about doing significant and unique work as a technology lawyer, this team is for you. The team comprises professionals from diverse fields, including technology, AI, privacy, IP, corporate, employment, tax law, regulatory, and litigation.

We’re seeking a senior lawyer to help support OpenAI in the area of competition and antitrust. This role will involve engaging with competition regulators globally and helping set our competition strategy. We’re looking for an experienced competition lawyer who is excellent at regulatory engagement, can operate at a fast pace with high volume of matters, and is a strong leader and manager.

This role reports to our Associate General Counsel of Competition.

• Support strategy and regulatory engagement for OpenAI in the area of competition and antitrust.
• Advise on commercial partnerships and acquisitions from an antitrust perspective.
• Respond to RFIs and other inquiries from competition regulators.
• Collaborate with global policy and regulatory affairs to anticipate and navigate competition scrutiny in the area of AI.
• Advise business and other legal teams on compliance with antitrust laws.

• Have 10+ years of legal experience in the area of antitrust.
• Have a mix of in‑house and top‑tier law firm experience.
• Have experience working for a competition regulator (a plus).
• Possess expertise in regulatory review of mergers and acquisitions and associated filings.
• Have experience leading strategy and responses to antitrust investigations at a technology company.
• Demonstrate the ability to operate with autonomy and sound judgment in highly technical and fast‑moving environments.
• Have exceptional communication skills, with an ability to distill complexity into actionable, business‑aligned guidance.
