Sr. Commodity Manager, Robotics Supply Chain

We operate from locations in the greater Boston and Seattle area, co‑locating hardware design, code, and testing to innovate quickly and on limitless ideas. Our supply chain team provides strategic sourcing for a portfolio of robotic technologies, enabling new products by delivering the right materials at the right cost to support Amazon’s global fulfillment and transportation solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a cross‑functional supply chain team dedicated to supplier and supply chain design, sourcing, and logistics decisions, and supply chain execution for robotics products from concept through scaled deployment.
  • Act as single point of contact for program resources to communicate supply chain decisions and progress, provide feedback on program decisions and changes, and support financial planning and capital approvals.
  • Work with Robotics leadership to ensure partnership between Robotics Supply Chain, hardware on commodity and supplier selection, cost performance trade‑off analysis, cost road‑map development and execution, and enabling rapid product development stages.
  • Define and approve product‑level supply chain strategy documents, including critical components and suppliers, product cost roadmap to meet payback targets, capacity plan and sourcing and tooling requirements, and supply chain risk assessment & mitigation plans.
  • Develop negotiation strategies for categories that impact the product to deliver against business objectives and maintain sustainable relationships with strategic suppliers for Amazon Robotics products supporting priority programs.
  • Manage overall supplier relationships, including performance, capability development, capacity planning, contracting, risk mitigation, cost and quality improvements.
  • Collaborate with technical operations, engineering, and program teams on new product introduction programs to define standard and custom product requirements and ensure sourcing strategies meet technical capabilities, cost, and business goals.
  • Communicate forecast and capacity requirements for sustaining and new products, monitor supplier performance, and address supply and/or quality issues.
  • Align supplier strategies to Robotics goals for sustaining production and new product, develop and execute global commodity strategies that align business requirements with supplier capabilities, and maintain monthly supplier scorecards and conduct quarterly executive business reviews.
Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of developing, negotiating, and executing business agreements experience.
  • Experience developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at the organizational level.
  • Experience managing programs across cross‑functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related technical field.
  • 6+ years of high volume manufacturing operations or sourcing environments experience.
  • Experience directly working with engineering teams.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in supply chain, commodity, and supplier management in a high volume, global sourcing and operations manufacturing environment with a global supply base of contract manufacturers.
  • Knowledge of basic supply agreement construction and key contracting provisions/requirements.
  • 5+ years of direct experience in sourcing mechanical components, including machined parts, stamped parts, plastic parts, and/or raw materials.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience identifying, negotiating, and executing complex legal agreements.
  • Master’s degree in a technical field, or Master of Business Administration.
  • Experience in negotiations with global suppliers with a proven track record in cost reduction.
  • 5+ years of high volume manufacturing operations or sourcing environments experience.
  • Experience in a global supply chain, manufacturing, production/procurement, distribution, logistics or related environment/operations.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industries, robotics, semiconductors, consumer electronics, electric vehicles, or similar.
