Senior Manager, Emergency Management and Business Continuity
Join REI to lead critical emergency response, business continuity, and corporate security functions. The role manages the Asset Protection & Risk Management Support Center, coordinates emergency response across co‑op sites, and ensures compliance with security plans and policies.
OverviewREI Co‑op is committed to fostering outdoor enjoyment and sustainability. The Senior Manager advances the co‑op’s mission by leading emergency management, security, and business continuity initiatives, supporting employees, customers, and partners.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute the strategic emergency response, business continuity, corporate security, and AP & RM Support Center plans.
- Serve as emergency response manager during crises across co‑op sites and provide a single point of contact for AP&R support.
- Lead cross‑divisional partners to update, test, and maintain business continuity and security plans.
- Coordinate with law enforcement, government agencies, and external partners to support emergency management and security.
- Manage vendors, contractors, and internal staff involved in emergency management and business continuity activities.
- Communicate in crisis situations to REI leadership and internal stakeholders.
- Provide coaching, direction, and leadership support to managers and employees.
- Maintain and routinely test business continuity plans and coordinate training and development.
- Partner with Human Resources and Legal on emergency‑related issues involving employees and third parties.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 10+ years of direct people leadership in any environment.
- 7+ years of experience in GAP analysis, process development and improvement preferred.
- 4+ years of experience managing vendors and contractors preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in emergency, crisis and business continuity management.
- 3+ years leading corporate security programs.
- Excellent writing skills and the ability to review and edit the work of others.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills required to establish and maintain positive relationships with other employees and external partners.
- Experience presenting to large groups and senior executives.
- Available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Travel 10‑25% of the time, with on‑call responsibilities.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
