What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva continues to grow, we are exposed to a broader range of external stakeholders, regulators, and reporting requirements. The Corporate Accounting team is responsible for managing the close process, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of financial information for all our stakeholders.

As the Head of Corporate Accounting, you will take charge of our Corporate Accounting function, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of our financial reporting timelines. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the monthly and quarterly close processes, and for the change management and policies that safeguard our general ledger and financial reporting structures.

Your expertise and leadership will play a pivotal role in evolving Canva's capabilities in this space while ensuring that our processes and policies support the scale and complexity of a rapidly expanding company.

At the moment, the role is focused on:

• Overseeing the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant standards.

• Lead and mentor a high-performing corporate accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

• Oversee the development and ongoing maintenance of effective internal controls to safeguard our accounting and close processes and enhance the reliability of financial information.

• Assess and mitigate financial risks, providing recommendations for improvements and optimization.

• Drive collaboration across departments to enhance cross-functional understanding of financial processes and outcomes.

• Streamline and optimize financial processes, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

• Identify opportunities for system enhancements and lead implementation efforts to ensure the scalability of financial operations.

You’re probably a match if you have:

• Demonstrated success in leading a Corporate Accountingfunction through rapid growth in a scaled public company environment, with a proven ability to develop and execute effective strategies.

• Strong leadership and team management skills with a proven track record of building high-performing teams and continuously supporting their growth and development.

• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business process transformation and change management.

• Extensive experience in establishing and standardizing policies, processes, procedures, and controls that are SOX-compliant.

• Proficiency in financial software and systems; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
