Budget Manager

The IIT Budget Manager provides leadership and hands on support to oncology clinical trial budget development activities across the Fred Hutch, University of Washington, and Seattle Children’s Cancer Consortium (“Cancer Consortium”). This position is responsible for creating and negotiating IIT Budgets. This is a temporary, full time position set for 6 months.

Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze study protocols to identify all trial-related costs and resource requirements
  • Perform preliminary coverage analysis in partnership with PI to inform feasibility budgeting
  • Develop comprehensive site budgets including personnel, procedures, equipment, and supplies
  • Create line-item budgets reflecting Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes and institutional charge masters
  • QC budget drafts across the team and identify tools and guidance to address quality trends
  • Identify per-patient costs, startup costs, maintenance and closeout costs
  • Calculate investigational drug costs and ancillary study-related expenses
  • Develop budget justifications for each line item
  • Review CTMS study calendars, MCA & other work products to help ensure all documents are aligned during study startup
  • Develop budget scenarios for different enrollment projections
  • Provide cost-benefit analysis and budget optimization recommendations
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising trial quality or compliance
  • Support budget negotiations with sponsors, and funding agencies
  • Respond to budget inquiries and provide detailed breakdowns of cost allocations
  • Review and reconcile final budgets against protocol scope of work
  • Meet with research team members to clarify budgeting requirements and timelines
  • Provide guidance on clinical trial budget best practices and billing compliance
  • Answer budget-related questions and provide ad hoc consulting support
  • Create summary documents and executive budget overviews
  • Maintain organized budget documentation for audit and compliance purposes
  • Deliver all work products in agreed-upon formats (Excel, Word, PDF, etc.)
  • Other CRS financial duties and projects assigned.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting or equivalent qualification and experience.
  • Minimum six years of experience in healthcare or finance.
  • Two years' experience in clinical trial budget development & management.
  • Two years' experience overseeing clinical trial operations/budget staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced financial management environment.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with strong time management skills to effectively manage multiple and competing demands.
  • Effective and professional oral and written communication skills required.
  • Advanced skills with detailed financial analysis tools and reporting.
