Overview
Join the Corps. You can make a difference in schools, classrooms and neighborhoods. City Year corps members serve full-time at 25 locations across the United States as tutors and mentors, running after‑school programs and leading youth leadership programs.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement a strategic development plan, including a major gifts campaign strategy, in partnership with the Executive Director and Board Development Committee.
- Hire, manage and retain a team of development professionals to manage the development pipeline.
- Manage and build relationships with current corporate and foundation funders and cultivate new partnerships, including grant proposal and reporting processes.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of current and future major donors, including designing a powerful major gifts campaign.
- Lead the development team to leverage City Year events to raise awareness and funds, managing key events such as the Ripples of Hope Gala Dinner and Corporate Partnership Breakfast.
- Oversee donor database management, stewardship and donor analytics.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to shape organizational strategy and implement the agency’s operating plan, including managing the development budget.
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible fundraising/development leadership experience, with proven track record in corporate, foundation and major gift solicitation and cultivation, and strong preference for major gift campaign experience.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation and persuasive writing skills.
- Strategic thinker with ability to manage short‑term and long‑term plans and achieve results.
- Demonstrated personnel management experience.
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and experience with Raiser's Edge system a plus.
- BA/BS required; preference for MBAs or other advanced degrees.
