Overview

BCforward is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Technician IV for an opportunity in Seattle, WA. This onsite position requires authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Expected Duration: 12 months

Job Type: Full Time (>=40 HRS WEEKLY) – Onsite, Seattle, WA

Compensation

Pay Range: $32/hr actual compensation may vary based on location, experience, and responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Program parts with efficiency utilizing standardized CAM templates within Fusion 360.
  • Manage material loading and unloading, monitor machine status, and initiate production runs to meet delivery obligations.
  • Retrieve finished components, perform cleaning and post-processing, preserving or emphasizing critical features.
  • Update the task management platform to inform requesters of job status.
  • Adhere to SOPs to maintain equipment and ensure tools and materials are available for uninterrupted production.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience with digital design tools (2D or 3D) such as Fusion 360 or other CAD/CAM software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to tailor approaches to meet customer needs.
  • Enthusiasm for creation and fabrication (e.g., artistic pursuits, mechanical tinkering, crafts).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior digital fabrication experience in a prototyping environment involving CNC machining.
  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree.
  • Direct experience with CNC machining equipment (hobby- or commercial-grade).
  • Experience using CAD/CAM software such as Fusion 360, Solid Works, or Mastercam.
Minimum Years of Experience

8+ years

Must-Have Skills
  • Digital design expertise with CAD/CAM tools (e.g., Fusion 360) and ability to adapt to new systems and templated CAM programs.
  • Client-focused communication and ability to work with customers to deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Hands-on maker mindset with creativity and willingness to learn.
Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Additional CNC machining experience in prototyping environments.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software such as Solid Works or Mastercam, in addition to Fusion 360.
  • Familiarity with task management platforms and updating stakeholders on job status.
Education

Bachelor’s or Associate degree

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Program parts using templated CAM programs in Fusion 360.
  • Load/unload materials, check machine status, and start jobs at regular intervals.
  • Remove finished parts, clean and post-process as required.
  • Update the task management platform to inform requesters of job status.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure tools and materials are available for continuous production.
