Backpack Brigade is a Seattle-based nonprofit working to end weekend hunger for students experiencing food insecurity. We partner with schools and volunteers to deliver thousands of backpacks filled with meals each week. Our mission is simple but powerful: ensure every child has access to nutritious food so they can thrive in and out of school.
Position OverviewThe Marketing Coordinator will support the organization’s marketing and communications efforts to expand Backpack Brigade’s visibility, deepen engagement with donors and volunteers, and amplify our mission. This role combines strategic planning with hands‑on execution across channels. The Marketing Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Director of Development, Executive Director, board of directors, and cross‑functional teams, ensuring that marketing initiatives support fundraising, events, and overall organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute an annual marketing and communication plan together with the Director of Development, that includes social media, website, email, and event promotion.
- Create and manage content calendars and activation plans to support fundraising campaigns and events.
- Draft and refine thoughtful and compelling key messaging and create digital content to strengthen donor and community communications.
- Manage current social media platforms, engage online community, and lead social media strategies to ensure content alignment with Backpack Brigade’s mission.
- Utilize Bloomerang for email marketing, newsletters, and segmentation.
- Serve as the main point of contact for anything media related and manage press opportunities.
- Maintain consistent and accurate branding and communication across templates, guidelines, and all public-facing materials.
- Collect and share testimonials, photos, and stories to highlight impact. Manage and organize SharePoint folders and maintain a photo and video library.
- Track and report on marketing performance, adjusting strategies as needed.
- On‑site event support (including occasional nights and weekends) to capture content and support marketing outreach.
- Oversee work of seasonal interns and marketing vendors when engaged.
- 3–5 years of marketing and communications experience, preferably in a nonprofit or mission‑driven environment.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to adapt messaging for diverse audiences.
- Experience managing social media, email marketing platforms, and content management systems.
- Knowledge of basic graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and demonstrated graphic design skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively.
- Passion for Backpack Brigade’s mission and commitment to equity and community impact.
- FT $30 per hour
