Job Objectives

The Social Services Coordinator is responsible for the provision and management of case work services to individuals and families in the North King County area who need material assistance and apply at the Seattle Temple Corps. In addition, the coordinator manages case work for up to 14 clients in Charis Place (sober living) and Pathway of Hope (family case management).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Provide direct case management and community resource development for Charis Place sober living clients, Pathway of Hope families, and financial assistance applicants.
  • Supervise the Food Bank Coordinator and oversee Food Bank operations, including communications with partners, grant applications, and food pickup logistics.
  • Manage the financial assistance program, processing applications, scheduling client appointments, and working with the finance department to issue checks.
  • Oversee a budget of approximately $100,000, utilizing a finance database.
  • Maintain case records, social services systems (Well Sky), HMIS, and ensure required forms and reports are maintained in prescribed format.
  • Plan and coordinate community outreach events and collaborate with service providers in North King County.
DRIVING EXPECTATIONS
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license and TSA vehicles accessible as needed.
  • Pass The Salvation Army in‑house driving test and Motor Vehicle Records check.
  • Pass a criminal background check.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Christian Ministry, or related field preferred; 1 year of recent experience in social work or similar roles acceptable.
  • Experience or strong interest in community outreach, organization, and community capacity development.
  • Interest and ability to work with clients of diverse racial, ethnic, and socio‑economic backgrounds in a culturally appropriate manner.
  • Ability to coordinate volunteers and employees for meaningful work.
  • Skill to collaborate on complex social issues with families and communities.
  • English proficiency sufficient for effective communication. Bilingual competency a plus.
  • Self‑directed workload management and confidentiality of client information.
  • Familiarity with Salvation Army policies or willingness to learn.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
  • Case management for up to 5 Pathway of Hope clients with school‑aged children.
  • Case management for up to 14 men in Charis Place sober living facility.
  • Oversee client case records, social services systems, and HMIS reporting.
  • Manage financial assistance program applications and client scheduling.
  • Allocate and monitor a $100,000 budget.
  • Supervise Food Bank operations, including partner communications, grant applications, and food pickup logistics.
  • Meet walk‑in clients to provide referrals and information on scheduled walk‑in appointment days.
  • Track and enter social services program statistics.
  • Plan and coordinate community outreach events and collaborate with service providers.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
DIRECT SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES
  • Case management for up to 4 Pathway of Hope families and identification of families to participate.
  • Meet clients to determine need and eligibility for shelter, food, clothing, utilities, and rental assistance.
  • Case management for up to 14 men in Charis Place sober living program.
  • Assist with food bank client outreach and information.
DIRECT ENGAGEMENT IN THE COMMUNITY
  • Develop and maintain partnerships to assist Pathway of Hope participants in achieving goals.
  • Oversee coordination of Christmas food and toy assistance program.
  • Coordinate the Rental Assistance program on behalf of Seattle Temple Corps.
  • Represent The Salvation Army in North King County service provider meetings.
