Executive Director – Crohn's & Colitis Foundation
The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is a non‑profit organization dedicated to curing Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis while improving the quality of life for affected children and adults. The Foundation accelerates research, provides extensive educational and support resources, and leads advocacy campaigns to secure medical research funding.
Base Pay Range$130,000 – $140,000 per year.
Position SummaryThe Executive Director serves as the flagship fundraising professional for the Foundation’s regional chapter. Responsibilities include managing individual and foundation gifts, leading staff and volunteer volunteers, cultivating partnerships, driving revenue, and representing the Foundation in the market area. The role is hybrid, requiring 2 days per week in the Chapter office and 3 days per week remote.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities Board/Volunteer Engagement- Build and execute a compelling chapter vision and collaborate with volunteer leaders to achieve revenue growth.
- Identify, recruit, and engage volunteers with high impact potential.
- Build partnerships with volunteers and supporters, fostering a culture of accountability.
- Advising and supporting volunteer committees to grow support for the mission.
- Serve as a key leader building relationships, raising awareness, and sharing mission impact in the market area.
- Identify local major‑gift prospects and collaborate with the national major‑gift team to secure individual and foundation major gifts.
- Cultivate, recruit, and secure major revenue partners to maximize impact for special events and other campaigns.
- Collaborate with regional leadership to drive growth and efficiency across the Southwest Region.
- Manage staff and execute fundraising techniques to meet revenue targets through events and other chapter activities.
- Secure campaign leadership and corporate sponsor ships in partnership with local and regional staff.
- Implement cultivation, solicitation, follow‑up, and recognition processes for individual, corporate, and foundation participation.
- Maintain accurate records for fundraising events and activities.
- Coordinate local, regional, and national marketing and promotion for fundraising events and programs.
- Partner with media outlets to maximize awareness of the Foundation brand.
- Participate in enterprise‑wide activities such as healthcare professional outreach visits, donor events, major education events, P2P information meetings, and the Take Steps Walk(s).
- Supervise chapter staff and build a culture of accountability, collaboration, respect, and teamwork.
- Provide leadership by facilitating communication across functional areas.
- Maintain engagement with regional and national leaders.
- Serve as a coach and mentor to all chapter and regional staff.
- Direct chapter financial administration, budgeting, and operational planning.
- Drive financial ratios to meet overall chapter performance guidelines.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- BA/BS degree preferred.
- 5–7 years of experience in not‑for‑profit fundraising and/or executive leadership.
- Demonstrated track record of successful fundraising, including major gifts, special events, corporate giving, donor cultivation, public relations, and stewardship.
- Experience in recruiting, engaging, and partnering with volunteers for results.
- Strong strategic thinking, committee leadership, account management, and volunteer development skills.
- Experience managing influence and persuasiveness over staff.
- Proficiency in mass media, advertising, and community relations communications for the health‑care service industry.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
