General DescriptionReporting directly to the Senior National Campaigns Director, the Senior Regional Philanthropy Officer for the Pacific Northwest is responsible for managing relationships and securing support from a portfolio of major gift prospects capable of making $100,000 over three years to support The Wilderness Society's mission. The role involves managing a personal portfolio of 75-125 donors, prospects, and suspects, and collaborating with the Senior National Campaigns Director, TWS philanthropy staff, program staff, and volunteers to secure support for campaign priorities.
The focus is on identifying, qualifying, and growing major gift donors, as well as prospecting and cultivating new donors interested in TWS’s work across the country.
The preferred location for this position is Seattle, WA. Other areas within the Pacific Northwest region may be considered.
This position supports an inclusive organizational culture grounded in trust and shared goals. - Qualifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards a portfolio of 75-125 major donors, prospects, and suspects.
- Participates in campaign development and donor initiatives, including qualifying suspects identified through wealth screening.
- Initiates, manages, attends, and follows up on philanthropic events.
- Conducts 10-12 personal visits monthly with suspects, prospects, and donors, and participates in at least 30 strategic solicitations annually.
- Raises a minimum of $1,500,000 per year and develops regional budgets with the Senior National Campaigns Director.
- Gathers data, assesses prospects, and develops strategies to maximize current and lifetime giving potential.
- Develops written strategies and plans for cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation meetings.
- Supports the Major Gift activities of the Conservation program staff in the Pacific Northwest.
- Performs other duties as required.
Experience & Competencies
- 5-10+ years of major gift fundraising experience.
- Experience in development offices, major gifts, and planned giving.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to interpret complex programmatic information.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Proven success working in diverse teams and environments.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of motivating volunteers, staff, and donors.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and problem-solving abilities for donor relations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% regionally and nationally.
