Overview

Registered Nurse 2 – Stafford Creek Corrections Center, Aberdeen, WA. On-Call (Various shifts/hours available). Hourly Salary Range: $45.01-$73.79.

The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking highly motivated and qualified individuals to take on the role of Registered Nurse within the Health Services Division at the Stafford Creek Corrections Center (SCCC). Registered Nurses will receive shift differentials and supplemental shift premiums as described below, in addition to the base hourly rate.

Shift premiums:

  • Evening and night shifts: $2.50 per hour
  • 11:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.: $1.00 per hour
  • Friday midnight–Sunday midnight: $3.00 per hour

Stafford Creek Corrections Center serves diverse patient needs and offers a benefits package with opportunities for professional and personal growth. Inpatient and outpatient services include a 23-bed inpatient unit and outpatient clinic with 10–15 patients seen daily, plus weekly foot care clinics and regular blood pressure checks.

Responsibilities
  • The registered nurse delivers services which promote health, foster healing, and support coping and adjustment to health conditions.
  • Screening, assessing, and evaluating incarcerated individuals and their conditions.
  • Responding to requests for health care in a complete, timely, clinically appropriate, and therapeutic manner.
  • Delegating and supervising work, monitoring, coordinating, and delivering health care.
  • Planning transitions, making referrals, and arranging follow-up when patients transfer or return to the community.
  • Assisting patients to improve their skill and ability to provide care for themselves and their family.
  • Counseling, consulting, teaching, advising, and providing health information to improve quality of health services and safety.
On-Call Nurses
  • Available to work all shifts (day, swing, graveyard), including weekends and holidays.
  • Minimum of 10 shifts per month.
  • Provide written availability by the 10th of each month for the following month's coverage.
  • Complete a paid three-week correctional worker core training from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday–Friday.
Qualifications
  • Initial and continuous unencumbered licensure in the State of Washington as a Registered Nurse.
  • Or an unencumbered Multistate License from a participating Compact Licensure State with completion of Suicide Prevention, EDIR training, and MLS demographic survey.
  • One (1) year of experience working as a Registered Nurse.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR training.
  • Proficiency with computer-based programs to schedule, monitor, and track patient information; data entry and email communication; and other necessary systems.
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
