Licensed Practical Nurse 4 (LPN4) - On Call — WA State Penitentiary, Walla Walla, WA
Salary Range: $33.86 - $45.57/hour
The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN4) On-Call for the WA State Penitentiary in Walla Walla, WA. Under the direct or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse 4 supports the department's mission to improve public safety by assisting in the implementation of the nursing process and delivering services to promote health, foster healing, and support coping and adjustment to various health conditions.

Responsibilities- Administer medications.
- Use tools, techniques, and physical and cognitive skills to practice nursing safely and effectively in the correctional setting and within the scope of practice defined by state law and administrative code so that patient care provided is safe, effective, efficient, and clinically appropriate.
- Provide competent patient care.
- Self-evaluate and practice professional nursing conduct at all times.
- Delegate and assign tasks to other staff as appropriate.
- Provide effective communication and documentation.
- All other tasks assigned.
- Initial and continuous unencumbered licensure in the State of Washington as a Licensed Practical Nurse
- OR An unencumbered Multistate License from a participating Compact Licensure State as outlined by the Nurse Licensure Compact and Department of Health with completion of Suicide Prevention, EDIR training, and MLS demographic survey.
- Two years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Proficient using computer-based programs to schedule, monitor and track patient information, perform data entry and word processing, and communicate via email, as well as other programs that may be needed to complete assigned work.
- Experience working as a nurse in an acute care setting or a correctional facility.
- Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing whose accreditation is recognized by the US Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
