Job Summary and ResponsibilitiesFranciscan Medical Group is currently seeking a Clinic LPN for our Regional Float Team in the King County Region. Experienced LPNs may apply to learn clinical details across both primary and specialty Virginia Mason Franciscan Medical Group clinics.

This job is responsible, under the direction of a Registered Nurse or other Healthcare Provider, for providing quality practical nursing care to clinic patients consistent with the scope of LPN licensure and Franciscan Medical Group (FMG) Scope of Practice Policy.
An incumbent assists providers with patient clinic visits, carrying out routine aspects of designated nursing protocols and providing clinical support and related assistance to professional medical staff.
LPNs participate in patient care planning, assisting with and/or performing therapeutic/diagnostic procedures/tests, reporting nursing observations/assessments and updating information in the patient’s electronic medical record.
An employee uses initiative in carrying out recurring tasks independently within scope of practice and established standards of care. An RN or Provider provides specific instructions for new or more complex tasks and is consulted when unusual/unfamiliar situations are encountered.
Work involves effectively managing a demanding workload and requires excellent customer service skills with patients/families, multidisciplinary team members, practitioners and the public.
If assigned to the centralized FMG Float Pool, an incumbent provides patient care services to the assigned clinic/work unit as needed to meet staffing needs.
EssentialJob Duties
- Greet and prepare patients for the practitioner, providing patient mobility assistance as necessary.
- Obtain and record vital signs and other appropriate information such as height, weight, drug allergies, current medications and presenting problem, anticipating the needs of the patient and the practitioner during the exam.
- Telephone and in‑person contact to screen, gather information, communicate and respond to patient needs appropriately, ensuring documentation of the phone call meets standards.
- Administer ordered medications via oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intradermal or sublingual routes; start IVs, maintain and administer IV fluids/meds as ordered by provider.
- Under supervision of the practitioner, inform patients of lab results, process prescriptions to pharmacies and return practitioners’ phone messages; ensure that the patient or family understands follow‑up and referral information and provide general health education within own level of expertise as directed by practitioner and nurse supervisor.
- Prepare, clean and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment; keep patient exam rooms clean and orderly; dispose of contaminated items according to Franciscan Medical Group Exposure Control Plan; anticipate practitioner’s needs for medications, supplies and equipment.
- Assist with diagnostic tests and procedures to the appropriate level of training and established procedures, ensuring patient privacy and comfort during the exam; instruct patients in the collection of samples and other tests.
- Actively participate in continuing education and meetings; participate in committees as requested; engage in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.

- Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing approved by the Washington State Board of Nursing.
