The UW Medicine Outpatient Surgery Center at Harborview is a five operating room surgical unit with supporting pre-operative, post-operative, and sterile processing departments.

** DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
** The
** UW Medicine Outpatient Surgery Center
** will provide daytime surgical procedures to the community of patients that meet developed criteria.

** ABOUT THE OUTPATIENT SURGERY CENTER
** The
** New Outpatient Surgery Center opening on the Harborview Campus
** is located on the 4th floor of Ninth and Jefferson Building (NJB) and will open January 2026 to patients.  The Surgery Center will feature 5 operating rooms, 12 pre/post bays, and sterile processing.
Hours of operation will be Monday through Friday with no holidays, weekends, or night hours.  The Center will offer same-day surgery procedures utilizing state-of–the-art equipment to our community of patients that meet the necessary criteria. This reflects the Center’s innovative, patient-centered culture, supporting ongoing operational efficiencies and quality improvements.  The goal is to provide a seamless, low-stress surgical experience for each patient, surgeon, and staff member.  

The unit will provide a soothing environment with natural lighting and patient privacy.

** PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES *(PER/POST OP)**
* · Patient admit to the unit
· Patient teaching and discharge
· Administration of pre and post operative medications
· Continuous patient pre and post operative assessment
· Documentation in Epic
· Participation in quality improvement projects    
** REQUIREMENTS*
* · Graduated from an accredited school of nursing
· Two or more years perioperative experiences  
· Has a WA/MSL RN license to practice in the state of Washington.
