Seattle Children’s Hospital is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our world-class Pediatric General and Thoracic Surgery team in a limited-term capacity
.
As an integral member of the region’s largest pediatric surgical team, you will provide high-acuity care across the entire patient continuum—from initial consultation in the Emergency Department to intraoperative assistance and post-operative recovery. You will work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, partnering with board-certified pediatric surgeons, fellows, and specialized nurses to deliver family-centered care.
Responsibilities- Comprehensive Clinical Management: Provide direct care and assume primary responsibility for patients in ambulatory, operating room, emergency department, and inpatient settings.
- Clinical Autonomy: Obtain detailed patient histories, perform physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop complex treatment plans.
- Surgical Intervention: Perform clinical procedures and prescribe medications as an independent provider within the surgical scope of practice.
- Continuity of Care: Direct and participate in case management and continuing care to ensure seamless transitions for patients and families.

Refer and consult with attending physicians, specialists, and other healthcare team members to deliver safe, high-quality care. - Quality & Research: Contribute to departmental continuous performance and quality improvement projects, while participating in education and research efforts for families and the medical team.

Master's degree in nursing with a concentration in a pediatric or family nurse practitioner program OR graduate of a nationally accredited physician assistant program.
One year work experience in a pediatric or family focused clinical area.
Required Credentials- For Nurse Practitioners: Active, unencumbered registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure in the State of Washington;
Current national certification as a pediatric or family nurse practitioner. - For Physician Assistants: Active, unencumbered physician assistant licensure in the State of Washington;
Initial certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. - For All Providers: Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration;
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals is required at time of hire and to be maintained continuously throughout employment. American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will also be accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Professionals. - Some clinical locations may require American Heart Association Pediatric Life Support training and continuous maintenance of certification.
- Active clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider at Seattle Children's Hospital must be secured prior to time of hire and must be maintained in good standing and in compliance with all medical staff bylaws, continuously throughout employment.
- Two years experience in advanced practice provider role
- Two years experience in pediatric health care
Compensation Range
: $ - $ per year
Note:
This position is currently eligible for an off-shift premium of up to 3% which would increase the total compensation of this role by an additional $4,119.64 to $6,058.85 per year.
