Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac PCU position requiring 2+ years telemetry experience and WA or compact RN licensure.

Details
  • Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
  • Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting
  • Patient population includes MI, rule out MI, primary arrhythmias, pre/post open-heart and vascular surgery, coronary artery disease, heart failure, pre/post cath lab, and stroke patients with cardiac involvement
  • Specialized structural heart support including VAD and TAVR patients
  • Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4, up to 1:5 at midnight
  • Requires Epic EMR experience
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required to like units and potentially to sister facilities
Requirements
  • Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at submission
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years telemetry experience required, including surgical tele, open heart surgery, and vascular/groin radial band management experience
  • IV skills required including starting and maintaining IVs
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Experience with chest tubes and sternal precautions required
  • VAD and TAVR experience preferred
  • Teaching and community hospital experience preferred
  • 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
Additional Information
  • Provide telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and cardiac drip management (no titration)
  • Perform breathing treatments, chest tube setup/care, CPAP/BiPAP, trach care, and sternal precautions care
  • Administer blood and blood products, manage cardioversion/defibrillation, and epicardial pacer management
  • Care for LVAD and open-heart surgery patients 24-28 hours post-op
  • Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
  • Former Providence permanent employees may return as travelers after a 3-month separation, provided they are not within 50 miles of the facility
  • RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the submission process, as post-offer requests may not be granted
