Job SummaryThe City of Bellevue is currently seeking positive and energetic people to provide general facility supervision and program support at the South Bellevue Community Center, primarily for the climbing wall program. This includes daily programming, special events, and kids camps. The position reports to the Community Services Coordinator and frequently collaborates with the Climbing Wall Lead and other community‑center staff. Candidates must work independently, enforce policies, and provide excellent customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Oversee program/activity participants and/or staff; provide instruction, direction, and assistance as needed.
- Design, implement, and facilitate assigned program activities, events, or other program components.
- Ensure program/facility rules, policies, and procedures are followed; maintain and enforce safety standards.
- Develop schedules, calendars, and statistical information.
- Ensure proper use, care, and storage of program equipment.
- Assist with program and event registration; provide general front‑desk support such as answering calls, greeting visitors, record keeping, data entry/collection, maintaining records, developing reports, and other administrative tasks.
- May work in more than one assignment in the department.
- Knowledge of assigned parks, recreation, and community services programs, activities, and services.
- Knowledge of safety guidelines and practices.
- Knowledge of opening and closing facilities and assisting with program/activity set up and take down.
- Skill in providing customer service in a busy environment and handling multiple tasks.
- Skill in working with diverse groups of people in a tactful, effective, and respectful manner.
- Skill in solving problems and using tact, patience, and courtesy when working with others.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, the community, and program participants.
- Ability to handle emergency situations.
- Ability to provide information about parks, recreation, and community services programs, activities, and services, and to communicate effectively in person, via email, and over the phone.
- Ability to work with cash and make change.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to use a computer for data entry, processing payments, researching information, and communicating program details.
- Ability to work varied schedules including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to enforce facility rules, policies, guidelines, and safety standards.
- Ability to safely perform job tasks in a variety of park and non‑park settings.

- One or more years of experience in an assigned activity, program, or the general parks, recreation, and community services field.
- High school diploma or GED may be required for some positions.
- First Aid, CPR, or similar certification or training may be required for some positions.
- Work involves moving, communicating, operating objects, tools or controls, and reaching.
- May require ascending/descending ladders, stairs, ramps, and elevated grounds; traversing or moving to access and monitor equipment in indoor and outdoor spaces.
- Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- May need to transport, position, install, or move objects up to 25 pounds; some duties may involve heavier loads (e.g., lifeguards lift up to 50 pounds during training or rescue).
- Noise level may range from quiet to moderately loud depending on environment.
- Environment may be indoors, outdoors, or inclement weather; hours may require weekends, evenings, and holidays.
