Position:
Habitat Restoration Specialist (Ameri Corps)

Earth Corps, a Seattle-based nonprofit, is seeking a Habitat Restoration Specialist for a seasonal Ameri Corps position. This role supports our field services team by assisting with habitat restoration projects and crew support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and assist with field projects, volunteer events, and site documentation.
  • Lead on-site projects in the absence of a project manager.
  • Order and deliver materials to restoration crews.
  • Engage in public speaking, outreach, and networking.
  • Establish goals with crews, promote leadership, and serve as a role model.
  • Assist with monitoring, data collection, and fieldwork such as invasive species removal and native planting.
  • Support logistics, maintain tools and equipment, and help with camping trip preparations.
  • Maintain effective communication with team members and agency contacts.

Terms of Service:

  • Temporary, exempt position from January 16 to December 14, 2019.
  • Hours:

    7:00 am - 5:30 pm, Tuesday to Friday, with some evenings, weekends, and overnights.
  • Stipend: $1925/month.

Physical Demands:

  • Perform physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Long days involving manual labor, heavy lifting, and working on uneven terrain.

Qualifications:

  • Valid US driver’s license and ability to drive large vehicles.
  • Ability to obtain a WA State pesticide license.
  • Experience in team leadership and habitat restoration techniques.

Desired

Skills:

  • Knowledge of Pacific Northwest ecology.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of multitasking.
  • Customer service and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Experience with tools, camping equipment, and crew leadership.
