Under the direction of the Kitchen Manager or designee, perform skilled cooking or baking to ensure high quality, nutritious food production and service. May lead assigned staff in meal preparation, serving and clean up.

• Prepare and serve attractive, high quality, nutritious, cost‑effective meals following standardized procedures and district standards.
• Complete tasks within allocated time.
• Comply with approved safety and sanitation procedures.
• Assist in cleaning kitchen, equipment, tables and storeroom as scheduled, reporting malfunctions.
• Assist in maintaining food and supply inventories.
• May direct or assist unit employees in meal preparation during emergencies, training or other assignments.
• Maintain required daily records and reports.
• Collect money and account for meals served according to established procedures.
• Maintain a plate count record of meals served.
• Promote Child Nutrition Services programs to increase meal participation.
• Assist school staff in promoting proper nutrition.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relations with others.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Required to stand and walk for prolonged periods; lift up to 25 lbs; push, stoop, reach; perform repetitive tasks; shift priorities; communicate with students and adults in challenging situations; make decisions and solve problems; adapt to change; normal vision, depth perception and color vision; may be exposed to cleaning chemicals.

• Meet minimum qualifications for Assistant and Satellite Servers.
• One year experience in commercial or institutional food preparation.
• Ability to utilize fundamentals of meal preparation.
• Skills to plan menus and adjust recipes.
• Competency to complete and maintain all records as requested.

Seattle Public Schools benefits are administered by the Washington State Healthcare Authority (HCA) under the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). Eligibility for benefits is determined by the number of hours worked during the school year. Employees scheduled to work 630 hours or more are eligible for benefits.
