As a Shortage Control Lead you will mitigate theft and fraud in high‑shortage areas of the store while promoting a safe and secure environment. You will engage customers and associates with a strong, energetic greeting, eye contact, and smile, consistent with our core values.

The Shortage Control Lead partners with store and field leadership to train and develop Shortage Control Associates, identify and report theft incidents, and drive shortage education and awareness to all associates. Your confidence, positive attitude, command presence, and expertise in shortage‑reduction programs will influence behavior and reduce theft and fraud.

• Provide an effective deterrent to dishonest behaviors throughout the store by demonstrating command presence, role‑modeling control, following dress code, and maintaining a positive demeanor.
• Maintain a safe and secure store for customers and associates with strong attention to detail, multitasking, and communication, partnering with store leadership.
• Enthusiastically engage with every customer and associate in high‑risk areas, promoting a strong impression of control and best‑in‑class service.
• Display a strong working knowledge of top shortage areas and support programs designed to reduce theft.
• Gather and document indicators of external theft, share with leaders, network with local law enforcement, and support evidence gathering for large‑scale or organized retail crime.
• Support the store manager by providing internal controls and operational oversight, including associate bag checks, monitoring point‑of‑sale transactions, conducting audits, and promoting Asset Protection programs.
• Provide leadership with onboarding and ongoing support of associate training in shortage‑reduction programs and processes.
• Assist store leadership in preparing and executing the semi‑annual inventory process and developing action plans to reduce shortage.
• Role‑model behaviors that demonstrate safety is a top priority.
• Demonstrate discipline in managing stressful situations and address unsafe practices promptly.
