Job Overview

The Lead Institutional Advisor (Advisor) develops investment management and fiduciary relationships with non‑profit, public, corporate and government clients. The Advisor collaborates with local Key Private Bank Markets and Banking Partners to identify prospective Institutional Clients, educate them about our capabilities, and generate new revenue. The Advisor will manage a modest book of clients to stay close to the operational and technical aspects of serving this population and deliver a proactive client experience.

Job Functions Sales
  • Develop and close complex client opportunities.
  • Identify prospective clients or referral sources and position our capabilities.
  • Participate in the development of sales strategy, client experience, and product development.
  • Coordinate the RFP process with KPB Field and banking partners.
  • Maintain in‑depth product and competitor knowledge.
  • Foster partnership with KPB, Banking Teams and COIs to drive success.
Prospecting
  • Primary point of contact for all external sales opportunities.
  • Master first‑contact strategy and phone approach.
  • Differentiate Institutional Advisor and Key in the marketplace.
  • Target productive market niches.
  • Ask qualifying questions early in the sales process.
Pipeline and Opportunity Management
  • Meet or exceed monthly success metrics and maintain a robust pipeline.
  • Partner with Relationship Manager on all sales opportunities.
  • Execute activities necessary to achieve sales goals.
  • Collaborate with KPB Wealth Advisors, Relationship Managers and Field Teams to uncover opportunities.
  • Generate leads via Salesforce, community networks, COIs and other resources.
  • Utilize letters, articles, voicemail, seminars and events to sell services.
Maximize the Sales Call Opportunity
  • Follow disciplined pre‑call preparation.
  • Discover what motivates the prospect to purchase services.
  • Ask questions to uncover time, budget and resource constraints.
  • Gain commitment from decision makers.
  • Execute disciplined post‑call debrief, follow‑up and pipeline management.
Present to Close
  • Understand client’s current provider and decision‑making process.
  • Execute signing of documents and develop client relationship team.
  • Set initial strategy and introduce new clients to Relationship Managers.
  • Collaborate with the relationship management team to ensure sales goals are met.
Exceed Client Expectations
  • Provide ongoing contact with new clients to enhance initial experience.
  • Develop relationships to uncover additional services.
  • Ask satisfied clients for introductions.
  • Participate in Key Corp’s community commitment.
Growth
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding assigned sales goals, including expansion, referrals and new business growth.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business‑related field (accounting, finance, economics) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years Institutional Banking, Investment Management/Consulting, or Trust experience with progressive sales management responsibilities.
  • Ability to balance focus on sales and client advice delivery.
  • Demonstrated success in exceeding performance objectives within a matrixed organization.
  • Expert knowledge of technology systems.
Compensation And Benefits

This position is eligible for a base salary in the range of $ – $ annually. Compensation also includes incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
