Job SummaryThe Unarmed Security Guard is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of residents, staff, and property at Park Place Nursing Home
. The role involves patrolling the facility, monitoring surveillance equipment, enforcing rules and regulations, and creating a secure environment, particularly during the weekend graveyard shift (Sat.– Sun.– 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM). The guard plays a key role in maintaining a peaceful atmosphere while quickly addressing and reporting any security concerns. This position is part‑time, weekends only and requires flexibility to provide coverage during holidays, absences, or vacations.
- Conduct regular patrols of premises, including hallways, entrances, exits, parking areas, and surrounding grounds.
- Ensure all areas are covered and secured during the graveyard shift, checking for potential threats or safety hazards.
- Check and secure doors, windows, gates, and other access points.
- Monitor security cameras and alarm systems for unusual activity.
- Respond promptly to alarms or disturbances detected or reported.
- Maintain communication with the security team and facility management, reporting suspicious activities immediately.
- Provide assistance to staff and residents as needed, especially during the overnight shift.
- Control visitor access, ensuring proper sign‑in/out and adherence to policies.
- Respond calmly and efficiently to emergencies, following established protocols.
- Maintain a detailed log of activities, incidents, and observations.
- Complete formal reports on incidents and submit them to the Security Supervisor or facility management.
- Document maintenance issues, damage, or safety hazards discovered during patrols.
- Prepare to implement emergency procedures such as fire evacuation, lockdowns, or medical emergencies.
- Ensure a prompt response to emergencies during the graveyard shift.
- Identify and address immediate safety hazards to prevent accidents.
- Enforce facility policies, including restrictions on smoking, alcohol, and unauthorized access.
- Assist in maintaining order and discipline during quiet or off‑hours.
- Engage with residents professionally and respectfully.
- Ensure all emergency equipment is accessible and in good working condition.
- Report malfunctions in security systems or equipment immediately and coordinate repairs.
- Monitor premises and respond to potential security issues affecting resident and staff wellbeing.
- Assist nursing staff during medical emergencies by maintaining order.
- Be available to address urgent resident needs or facility concerns during the shift.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in security or law enforcement preferred.
- Knowledge of security procedures and emergency response protocols, especially in healthcare or senior care environments, is a plus.
- Certificate of completion in a Nursing Assistant course required; time will be provided to obtain it if an offer is extended.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and think quickly in emergencies.
- Physical stamina to walk, stand, and patrol for extended periods.
- Friendly and professional demeanor when interacting with residents and staff.
- Basic computer skills for operating security equipment and documenting incidents.
- Stand and walk for extended periods; lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
- Respond to emergencies, including swift movement during evacuation.
- Shift: Graveyard shift—Sat.– Sun.– 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM.
- Environment:
