Position overview:
The campus safety and security officer works under the supervision of the Director of Safety and Security, assisting full‑time security staff with access control, customer service, and crime prevention duties. This is a part‑time temporary position.
Base pay range: $24.13 per hour – $31.16 per hour (depending on experience).
Responsibilities- Monitor various entrances for unauthorized entry.
- Assist with emergency evacuations.
- Provide campus information and directions to visitors.
- Answer campus security phone and provide assistance.
- Dispatch campus security officers to requests for service.
- Assist with unlocking and securing various areas on campus.
- Receive and log lost and found property.
- Monitor CCTV camera equipment to detect irregular activity.
- Complete daily activity log.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Possess the ability to administer first aid/CPR and become first aid/CPR certified within the first six months of employment (Emergency Medical Responder training is preferred).
- Familiarity with the incident command system and the mechanics of organizing and implementing tabletop emergency management exercises.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis; the employer will not sponsor work visas.
- Ability to perform a range of physical motions, exerting up to 25 pounds; lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds; standing, walking, sitting for long periods, kneeling, squatting, and stooping; and traversing up and down stairs.
- Ability to operate office equipment.
- Ability to read and verify data and prepare various materials.
- Ability to exchange information on the phone or in person.
