As the Aviation Security Supervisor, you will ensure security regulatory compliance of the airport is maintained throughout the daily operating environment including oversight of Security Specialists in the response to, investigation of, and recovery from security disruptions.

  • You will direct the operational management and service functions of the department to ensure a high-level of quality and effective support is provided to internal customers.
  • You will provide continuous performance management and conduct employee performance evaluations.
  • You will address performance and/or behavior issues, clarifying expectations and providing feedback.
  • You will support diversity through the selection, management, and retention of diverse employees.
  • You will build strong and effective relationships with leadership team to share information, leverage resources, and jointly design results-based solutions.
  • You will communicate with stakeholders to ensure understanding and obtain buy-in.
  • You will identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
Who you are
  • Experienced – You have three (3) years of experience in aviation/security operations and one (1) year of supervisory/lead/mentor experience including leading a project or process.
  • Desired – We hope you have Incident Command Systems (ICS) 100 and 200 and/or an Airport Security Coordinator Certification from the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).

What else you need to know
  • Driver’s License – You will need a valid Washington State Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one, is required in order to travel locally to project sites.
  • Work Schedule –You may be required to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. You may be required to work during emergencies.
  • Work Environment – You will primarily work in an office environment and may be exposed to areas of high noise and various hazardous materials.
  • Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
  • Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle  upon clearance. You will also be required to obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire.
