ABOUT THE ROLE
The Maintenance Electrician is a union position. All duties are performed in a work-safe manner; plant safety rules are followed and individual works as a team member. The prime objective of this position is to ensure the integrity and reliability of all plant equipment via timely, planned, thorough and consistent maintenance activities and inspections. The electrician is responsible for carrying out electrical/maintenance processes and PM program inspections throughout the Seattle Grinding Plant.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
Understand and comply with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies to assure that
Environment, health and safety are the first priority of the business.
Actively support key safety initiatives at the facility and assist the department as needed to improve EHS performance and results.
Ensure safe practices (including coworkers, employees and contractors) in all areas of his/her work.
Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations.
Coordinates with assigned Foreman and/or other trades for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.
Maintains assigned equipment, and tools for the purpose of ensuring availability in a safe operating condition.
Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Certified Journeyperson Electrician
Field of Study Preferred: Certified tradesperson
Required Work Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience. Minimum 2 years of industrial experience
Knowledge of local building regulations based on the National Electric Code.
Additional Requirements:
Good communication skills – verbal and listening.
Safety experience with lockout/ tag out and working at heights.
Instrumentation experience.
SAP experience preferred.
Compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
Must be able to work within a team environment as well as independently.
Must be able to communicate to multiple levels within the organization.
Punctual and reliable; good attendance required
Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electric components.
Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
Maintain, repair, install and test switch gear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators, reactors, electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries, hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems.
Good eyesight and hand-eye coordination.
Must be able identify electrical wires by color.
Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed.
