Construction & Maintenance Project Supervisor (CMPS) Clallam Bay Corrections Center (CBCC)
• Full-time | Permanent

The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the Construction and Maintenance Project Supervisor position at Clallam Bay Corrections Center.

Clallam Bay Corrections Center is a 900-bed male correctional facility located on the point of the Olympic Peninsula. It is 50 miles west of Port Angeles and looks out over the Strait of Juan de Fuca at Vancouver Island. This facility houses medium and close custody incarcerated individuals. CBCC also operates a Restricted Housing Unit.

Whether the work is inside a prison, in community corrections, or in an administrative office, Washington State Department of Corrections professional staff experience a high degree of personal satisfaction knowing they are creating environments in which all incarcerated individuals can learn to make choices that contribute to a safer society.

The Construction and Maintenance Project Supervisor is a supervisory level position and supervises journey-level workers in the performance of skilled work in at least two skilled trades.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Oversee journey-level workers and a crew of incarcerated workers engaged in construction, installation, maintenance and repair of buildings, mechanical equipment, machinery, facility systems and specific apparatus, to include maintenance of all existing water, fire, and sewage systems at the facility.
  • Prepare preliminary cost estimates and projections for assigned tasks.
  • Schedule work to be completed based upon its assigned priority.
  • Design, make sketches and shop drawings, order supplies and materials for major and minor projects.
  • Inspect facility grounds and buildings to determine the need for repair, maintenance, or replacement.
  • Oversee and give instruction to staff and incarcerated workers during work projects.
  • Provide first level supervision to staff in various classifications and trades.
  • Instruct incarcerated workers in the safe and proper use of all hand and power tools and document training.
  • Effectively address employee performance and misconduct issues and take appropriate action.
  • Assess staff individually for career development and provide training experiences.
  • Evaluate existing piping, mixing valves, fixtures and equipment for repair or replacement.
Required:
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of experience and completion of a recognized apprenticeship in at least two skilled trades, OR four (4) years of applicable work experience or vocational training.
  • Two (2) years of experience supervising two or more journey level trade employees.

  • Construction building and planning
