Position: Mobile Diesel Mechanic II $2,500 New Hire Bonus

Overview

.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile field environment.
  • Adjust and repair truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, transmission, clutch, differential, and steering systems.
  • Diagnose and repair electronic and hydraulic systems; use handheld computers and pressure gauges for diagnostics.
  • Road‑test vehicles to ensure proper operation and verify repairs.
  • Manage parts inventory, reconcile with company service truck, and order parts from approved vendors.
  • Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, performing safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
  • Provide excellent customer service, listening to client needs and resolving issues.
  • Use hand, precision, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks as required.
  • Document work on Repair Orders (RO) using iOS device and TRAIT application; upload photos and complete DOT forms promptly.
  • Work independently, managing daily schedule and prioritizing tasks.
  • Operate safely and in compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company policies.
  • Maintain high productivity and close to standard repair times.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED with 3 years of related experience (or equivalent).
  • Set of hand tools necessary for job duties.
  • Complete ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
  • Pass DOT‑regulated background screening and DOT physical (or submit valid DOT medical card with >4 months expiration).
  • Minimum age 21, valid driver’s license, and ability to obtain a Driver Qualification File.
  • Valid DOT medical card or complete DOT physical if card has ≤4 months validity.
Preferred Certifications
  • ASE T3 (Drivetrain)
  • ASE T4 (Brakes)
  • ASE T5 (Suspension)
  • ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems)
  • ASE T7 (HVAC)
  • ASE 608/609 (Corrosion Prevention/Repair)
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and logical reasoning.
  • Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, and walk for long periods; perform repetitive tasks without fatigue.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to work with clients and team members.
  • Ability to determine appropriate tools and equipment for tasks.
  • Accurate judgment of distances and spatial relationships.
  • Experience with diagnostics and repair in a mobile field environment.
