Position

Description:

This position supports Youth and Family Empowerment (YFE) childcare nutrition programs by coordinating federally regulated meal programs across Centers and seasonal initiatives. The role ensures compliant implementation, monitoring, training, and technical assistance for the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and Center-based meal services, aligning daily operations with departmental goals of equitable food access for youth and families. This position works closely with community partners such as Seattle Public Schools, United Way, and Seattle Parks and Recreation to coordinate, set up, launch, and implement the City of Seattle Summer Food Program at over 50 sites, expanding access to free meals for youth outside the school year.

The position also collaborates with Child Care Centers at 10 locations to support year‑round nutritious meal service. This role serves as the primary point of contact for onboarding, training, and regulatory guidance, ensures compliance with USDA, OSPI, and City requirements, and works in collaboration with the supervisor to support smooth program operations and program expansion.

Job Responsibilities Outreach and Engagement
  • Coordinate outreach, engagement, and onboarding of Child Care Centers and community-based sites participating in SFSP, Center-based meal services, and After School Meals integrated within Centers.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Centers, community partners, vendors, and internal staff, providing guidance on program requirements, operational procedures, and regulatory or policy updates.
  • Work collaboratively with community partners such as Seattle Public Schools, Seattle Parks and Recreation, United Way, and other agency partners to coordinate, launch, and operate the City of Seattle Summer Food Program at over 50 sites citywide.
  • Provide ongoing customer service and technical consultation to participating sites to support program participation, address operational issues, and promote consistent service delivery.
Training and Monitoring
  • Coordinate, develop, and support annual and ongoing trainings for Centers and participating sites, including onboarding of new sites and staff, refresher trainings, and technical assistance to ensure compliance with USDA and OSPI requirements.
  • Conduct site monitoring visits and follow-up technical assistance for SFSP and Center-based meal sites in accordance with federal, state, and City monitoring cadence and documentation requirements.
  • Interpret and communicate federal, state, and local regulations, policies, and guidance to Centers and partners, ensuring timely implementation of changes and corrective actions.
  • Support planning and coordination of spring and fall special event trainings, including logistics, materials development, and participant communication.
Administration
  • Coordinate and oversee day-to-day administrative operations for SFSP, Center-based meal services, and After School Meals, ensuring accurate implementation, recordkeeping, and reporting across program areas.
  • Maintain program records, data tracking systems, and documentation to support reimbursement, audits, annual OSPI administrative reviews, and internal program evaluation.
  • Reconcile meal counts and delivery records with food service vendors and internal staff, investigate discrepancies, and support resolution of operational challenges.
  • Support supplemental nutrition initiatives, including Farm to Summer Week, Farm to Childcare, and supplemental meal programs, providing accurate data and documentation to support Grants and Contracts billing and reporting.
  • Attend and participate in community meetings, trainings, and interdepartmental work groups to promote program participation, continuous quality improvement, and alignment with departmental goals.
