Brief Position Description
The Sexual Violence Law Center's Just Watch Coordinator will shape a first-of-its-kind court observation program shining a light on how domestic violence and sexual assault cases are handled across Washington State. Along with observing and assisting in compelling cases, you will support a network of volunteer observers, turning real-time courtroom observations into meaningful insights that drive accountability and systemic change. This is a hands‑on, community‑powered direct service role at the intersection of justice, advocacy, and public engagement.
Dayin Life of JV
No two days look exactly the same for the Just Watch Coordinator. You might spend your morning in court observing a docket or tracking how a new judge handles domestic violence or sexual assault cases, sometimes with a newly trained volunteer shadowing alongside you. In the afternoon, you could shift to supporting the broader mission which includes reviewing observation notes, gathering patterns from what you’ve seen, or even helping conduct an initial client screening to determine whether Sexual Violence Law Center (SVLC) may be able to support a survivor.
Throughout it all, you’re balancing time in the courtroom with relationship‑building, coordination, and thoughtful reflection, and hopefully connecting what happens in real time to the bigger picture of accountability and access to justice.
