Senior Software Engineer

We are seeking a motivated Fullstack engineer (frontend-leaning) to join our dynamic engineering team. As a Senior Software Engineer in the Transaction Journey organization, you will work on building a collaborative transaction management platform to streamline the process of buying and selling homes. You will build tools that make it easier for agents to work with clients and other parties to complete critical tasks throughout the transaction, so that they can spend less time managing it, and more time with their clients, and building their business.

You will collaborate cross-functionally with multiple teams as well as with our product and design teams to identify and deliver the right solutions for our customers and support the growth of the world’s most scalable brokerage.

You design systems that are fault tolerant, scalable, highly available, well-tested, eventually consistent, and follow best practices such as the single responsibility principle. Your code is designed for modularity and re-use. You take pride in delivering solid code that is well-tested, peer-reviewed, and follows best practices. You have strong opinions on code structure, style, and development processes.

• Build, develop, and scale the transaction platform that empowers real estate professionals, buyers, and sellers.
• Collaborate closely with engineers on your team, engineers on other teams, as well as your product and design counterparts to successfully launch projects which solve real-world customer problems.
• Perform code reviews, design reviews, and write high quality tests.
• Become the subject matter expert for one or more services in your domain.
• Operate in a scalable engineering culture that leverages modern principles of decoupled systems and automated CI/CD/testing/monitoring to drive efficiencies.

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years of experience developing comprehensive, well-tested, and high-performance software applications
• 5+ years of programming experience with Typescript, Java script, and HTML/CSS
• 3+ years of experience with React and Node.js
• 3+ years of backend programming experience using languages such as Java or Go
• 3+ years using AWS / cloud technologies
• Experience with gRPC, Thrift, and other server-to-server communication protocols.
• Experience with Kafka and event-driven systems
• Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies
• Strong critical thinking skills, great communication skills and passion for delivering operational excellence
• A sheer eye for design and attention to detail, the products you build should not merely be functional but should take in context and anticipate our customer’s needs in a beautiful way
• Nice to have:
  Experience with infrastructure, such as CI/CD pipeline management, CLI tools, or build systems
