Software Development Engineer II – Amazon Linux, Seattle, WA.

Amazon Linux is the foundation for many AWS services. As a Software Development Engineer II you will design, implement and automate the release process for package updates to Amazon Linux, ensuring security, reliability and customer trust.

• Design and implement systems that automate the release of package updates, simplifying the release process and shortening the release timeline.
• Migrate existing services, deprecate legacy components and remove manual processes to delight our customers.
• Apply rigorous testing standards and collaborate with cross‑functional teams in AWS to deploy and operate the Amazon Linux platform.
• Participate in on‑call rotations (one week every two months) to maintain system fault tolerance and resolve root causes efficiently.
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and share knowledge to foster engineering excellence.

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience for new and existing systems.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language.
• Strong understanding of operating systems, automation, and testing practices.
