The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) team builds and manages a suite of massive scale, integrated cloud services in a broadly distributed, multi-tenant cloud environment. OCI is committed to providing the best in cloud products that meet the needs of our customers who are tackling some of the world’s biggest challenges.

Overview

This opportunity is to join Observability, a core OCI team that impacts external and internal customers and all OCI cloud services. The Observability team is delivering a world-class Integrated Observability and Management platform that works across OCI, other clouds, and on-premises to provide a uniform view. Our platform combines Logging, Monitoring, Auditing, SIEM, Events, and other services, with ongoing innovations to be feature-rich and well-integrated for meaningful insights into resources and data.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop major features for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, owning software design and development for major components.
• Operate high-scale services, improve resilience, and own projects while guiding other engineers on the team.
• Collaborate in a rock-solid coding and distributed systems environment, capable of deep stack dives and broad architecture design for high availability and scalability.
• Contribute to a fast-paced, agile culture with a focus on simplicity, quality, and reliable delivery.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to teammates as a leading contributor both individually and as part of the team.

What are the biggest challenges for the team?

We are building brand-new service features in a fast-growing environment. The right tradeoffs, clear communication, and crisp execution are essential as we scale to protect customer cloud environments and expand options for customers while driving Oracle Cloud growth.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science or a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3–5 years of software development experience.
• Proven ability to write quality code in Java, C#, C++, or similar OO languages.
• Experience delivering products across the full software development lifecycle.
• Experience with large-scale, highly distributed services infrastructure.
• Experience working in an operational environment with mission-critical live sites.
• Strong problem-solving, ownership mindset, and effective communication skills.
• Ability to design architectures showing deep technical depth in a focused area or across multiple products to enable high availability and scalability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Kafka, Apache Spark, Lucene, Kubernetes, and other big data technologies.
• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining services on a public cloud platform (e.g., AWS, Azure, Oracle).
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) languages, preferably Terraform.
