Senior Backend Software Engineer, Global E-Commerce Supply Chain - USDS

Our Supply Chain & Logistics team is a key pillar of the global e‑commerce business, responsible for the selection of goods, procurement, warehousing, inventory management and other business modules. It aims to improve customer experience with warehousing, supply chain & logistics technology, empowering merchants to simplify and expand their business worldwide with dependable and trustworthy fulfillment capabilities, so that affordable and high‑quality products are more accessible and improve the quality of life for consumers.

We follow a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office three days a week, or as directed by their manager/department. We review this model regularly, and requirements may change at any time.

• Lead the design and development of scalable backend services for core supply chain and logistics platforms (warehousing, inventory, transportation).
• Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders to drive improvements in supply chain efficiency and business outcomes.
• Drive service performance, reliability, and data security at scale.
• Mentor engineers and set best practices in system design, coding, testing, and operations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• At least five years of experience building large‑scale backend services with Java, Go, Python, or C++.
• Strong experience with backend infrastructure components such as message queues, caches, or job schedulers.
• Proven ability to design and deliver high‑availability, high‑performance, and scalable distributed systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading projects in supply chain, logistics, or e‑commerce systems.
• Experience architecting complex systems and translating business requirements into technical designs.
• Track record of mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction.
• Strong ownership and ability to lead cross‑functional projects through ambiguity.
