$159,000 – $324,000 per year.

As our Sr. Staff Backend Engineer for the Inventory and Promise Platform team, you will empower Coupang Fulfillment & Transportation to operate faster, better, and cheaper through modern, reliable, and data‑driven technologies. You will lead technical initiatives on a brand new Inventory and Promise platform that provides inventory visibility, promised delivery dates, and fulfills orders.

• Serve as a technical lead on demanding, cross‑functional projects involving Inventory and Promise.
• Architect and design new microservices and machine‑learning pipelines.
• Decompose complex problems into simple, straightforward solutions.
• Apply expert knowledge in performance, scalability, and enterprise distributed architecture.
• Mentor peers and help managers with career growth.
• Influence multiple teams, sharing deep knowledge.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including Java.
• 12+ years of experience leading large‑scale projects.
• Expertise in emerging platforms, Java, C/C++, operating system principles, and best practices.
• Strong understanding of backend scalable architecture and distributed systems.
• Experience with fault‑tolerant, high‑scale production systems.
• Experience building stream‑processing systems (Kafka, Spark‑Streaming).
• Knowledge of caching, storage techniques, and horizontally scalable architectures.
• Operational experience in large‑scale, high‑availability environments.

• Scalable distributed systems and machine‑learning algorithms.
• eCommerce domain experience in Inventory and Promise.
• Java, Scala, and Python development.
• AWS experience;
  Java is a plus.
