You'll help shape the future of infrastructure automation for law enforcement systems worldwide. With your technical expertise and focus on quality, you'll contribute to the foundation of fast, reliable cloud services that support Axon's platform.

As part of our distributed engineering team, you'll design and deliver self-service infrastructure solutions that empower development teams to innovate rapidly. You'll work closely with site reliability engineers (SREs) and software engineers (SWEs) to build platform-as-a-service (PaaS) capabilities for provisioning infrastructure. Your work will streamline operations, enhance reliability, and create scalable solutions that directly support public safety.

Location: This role is based out of our Seattle office or Boston office and follows a hybrid schedule
. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless there is an approved workplace accommodation. Reports to:
Senior Software Engineer Manager

• Lead engineering architecture design reviews
• Set a high technical bar for the team through code and architecture design reviews
• Mentoring engineers
• Working across teams with Product, Design, and Engineering to create integrated solutions that delight our customers
• Improve our Engineering process, including long-term thinking, sprint planning and stand-ups
• Building services that adhere to our high bar on availability and latency in this mission-critical space
• Working with the latest open source technologies

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 8+ years of professional software development experienceli>
  
  Strong background building cloud-native, distributed solutions
• Experience designing tooling and automation to simplify the operational management of SaaS/PaaS systems
• Proficiency in backend services with multiple managed languages (e.g., Java, Scala, Go, C#, or similar)
• Expertise with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Cloud Formation) and building modular, reusable, testable components
• Familiarity with Kubernetes platforms (e.g., AKS, EKS, or similar)
• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD platforms for automating infrastructure, builds, testing, and releases
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with empathy for the needs of engineering teams

• Experience with modern IaC frameworks such as Pulumi, Crossplane, or AWS CDK
• Exposure to multi‑cloud environments (Azure, GCP)
• Background in scaling large distributed systems and ensuring reliability/resilience

The Pay:
Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 141,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 225,600 in the highest geographic market.
