GEICO is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer with a passion for building high-performance, low-maintenance, zero-downtime platforms and applications. You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission, while co-creating the culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement.

Our Senior Engineer is a key member of the engineering staff working across the organization to provide a friction‑less experience to our customers and maintain the highest standards of protection and availability. Our team thrives and succeeds in delivering high‑quality technology products and services in a hyper‑growth environment where priorities shift quickly. The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge, typically ranging from front‑end UIs through back‑end systems and all points in between.

• Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systems.
• Design, develop and implement enterprise data governance solutions.
• Build product definition and leverage your technical skills to drive towards the right solution.
• Engage in cross‑functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle.
• Lead design sessions and code reviews with peers to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization.
• Define, create, and support reusable application components/patterns from a business and technology perspective.
• Mentor other engineers.
• Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams.

• Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems.
• Expertise in Python and Typescript/JavaScript. Experience with other programming languages like Java/Kotlin or Golang, React (Clean Architecture) or Angular and GIT.
• Experience in backend development: develop backend micro‑services using RESTful APIs, Graph
  
  QL, BFF, ORMs, orchestration frameworks like Airflow, FastAPI, Spring Boot framework and/or other Spring technologies.
• Experience developing and scaling open‑source applications such as Datahub, Soda, DBT, etc.
• Experience with modern software development tools including VS Code, Git Hub Copilot, Cursor and Claude to enhance coding efficiency.
• Experience with Open‑Source Data Governance solutions like Datahub a plus.
• Experience in the complete software development life cycle and knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real‑time communication).
• Experience with container orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and various Azure tools and services.
• Experience with relational and non‑relational database technologies (SQL, Snowflake, Oracle, Cosmos DB, Postgres, No
  
  SQL, etc.).
• Experience with load test tooling (Gatling or equivalent).
• Experience with monitoring Data Observability tools such as Splunk, Grafana, Loki, Prometheus or equivalents.
• Advanced understanding of Dev Ops concepts including Azure Dev Ops framework, CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, Gradle, Artifactory, Microsoft Azure Dev Ops.
• Experience working on different operating systems like Linux (Alpine, Ubuntu, Red Hat) & Windows.
• Experience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code.
