King County Metro Transit Rail Division is looking for dependable, detail-oriented Rail Maintenance Service Center Workers. This recruitment will fill nine (9) career service vacancies and may be used to establish an eligibility list to fill future vacancies that occur over the next twelve months, at the discretion of the hiring manager. As a Rail Maintenance Service Center Worker, you will communicate with multiple Rail sections, including Sound Transit and King County Transit at all levels for special materials management-related projects, requisitioning parts, warranty administration, and creating Excel reports pertaining to inventory and/or finance.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining inventory, issuing and receiving parts, purchasing, maintaining stock levels, and opening and closing work orders. Link Light Rail Metro Transit's Rail Division is responsible for operating and maintaining Link Light Rail service on a 24.7- mile route from south of Sea-Tac Airport to Northgate. Expansion over the next five years alone will include the addition of more than 20 stations and 40 miles of light rail track which is a critical part of the region's transportation network.

The light rail line is a critical part of the region's transportation network and carries more than 79,000 weekday daily riders. Who May Apply
This recruitment is open to all qualified applicants internal and external and will be used to fill current career service vacancies at Rail and may be used to establish an eligibility list to fill future career service and/or temporary vacancies that may occur over the next twelve months.

This position is considered safety sensitive. Applicants for these positions are required to undergo drug testing prior to employment and subsequent to commencement of employment, will be subject to random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return to duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing in compliance with Federal DOT alcohol and controlled substance testing program protocols.

Work Schedule
This position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible. Employees will work a 40-hour-per-week schedule with two consecutive days off. The w ork schedule may include non-standard work hours including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed. Schedules are based on a seniority "pick" system , which occurs 3 times per year.

Wage note: Per the union contract shift differentials are paid to those working second and third shifts. Shift pay is 5% for the second shift and 7.5% for the third shift, on top of hourly pay. Upon successful completion of Metro's driver's training, or if you have a valid Washington State Class B CDL, w ith airbrake endorsement , hires will have additional premium pay up to $2.00 per hour added to their wage rate.

Current wage rates: Day shift positions: $26.52-$37.88 2nd-Shift: $27.85-$39.77 3rd

Shift: $28.51-$40.72
Work Location
Employees may report to any of the following locations:
Rail Operations and Maintenance Facility (OMF) Central at 3407 Airport Way S, Seattle WA 98134 or OMF East th Ave NE Bellevue WA 98005, or any other locations that may be added or changed in the future.
