Logistics Specialist
As a Logistics Coordinator, you will manage logistics schedules, track inventory, resolve shipping issues, and maintain precise documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Examine shipment contents and compare them with manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy.
- Record shipment data, including weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies for reporting and accounting.
- Prepare documents such as work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials efficiently.
- Communicate with suppliers, vendors, and internal representatives to resolve issues such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance.
- Pack, seal, label, and prepare materials for shipping using hand tools, power tools, or postage meters.
- Contact carrier representatives to arrange shipments or issue delivery instructions.
- Deliver or route materials to departments using hand trucks, conveyors, or sorting bins.
- Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain adequate inventory.
- Determine shipping methods, routes, or rates for outgoing materials.
- Calculate space availability, shipping costs, storage fees, or demurrage charges using computer systems or price lists.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of all shipments and logistics activities.
- Previous experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain coordination is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with logistics software and Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Understanding of shipping regulations, customs procedures, and compliance standards.
- Organization & Time Management:
Ability to manage multiple shipments, schedules, and deadlines. - Problem‑Solving:
Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot logistics issues and implement effective solutions. - Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams. - Attention to Detail:
High accuracy in tracking shipments, processing documentation, and managing logistics data.
