Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees (GCIR) seeks a full-time program and information resources manager to join a dynamic team working to inform, connect, and catalyze philanthropicorganizationsacross the United States. The ideal candidate will have experience organizing programs in the nonprofit and/or philanthropic sector; knowledge of a wide range of issues relating to immigration policy, immigrant integration, equity, and justice; and exceptional writing, analytical,and interpersonal skills.
The OrganizationInside Philanthropynamed Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees (GCIR) the 2017 Funders’ Affinity Group of the Year for the key role we played in coordinating funder pushback to the new administration’s anti-immigrant policies.
Withimmigrationasa central and defining issue of our time,our dedicated, dynamic, and diverse teamis working todevelop and carry out a vision to drive immigrant-related philanthropic investments for the next decade and beyond. Ourstaff members come from all walks of life—many of us with immigrant and refugee backgrounds, and some of us with non-traditional career paths.
GCIRworks with more than
130 member foundations and the broader philanthropic community to inform, connect, and catalyze funders to address pressing issues facing newcomers and the communities in which they live and work. GCIR’s thought leadership and expertise position philanthropy to adapt to demographic trends, respond to policy developments, engage with cross-sector partners, and support timely and innovative efforts to advance equity, inclusion, and justice for immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers.
With offices in the Bay Area, as well as remote staff in Washington, D.C., GCIR works with grantmakers across the country in both traditional immigrant destinations and newer gateways. For more information, visitwww.gcir.org .
Working with and reporting to the director of California programs, the program and information resourcesmanagerplays a key role in1) designing,implementing,and evaluating California program sand
2) monitoring policy,conducting research,and preparing information resources for both California and national programs. This position works closely with other members of theprogramsteamand collaborates regularly with the communications, development, and knowledge management teams.
Position mustbe based out of the Sebastopol or Oakland, CA office.
Programs (45%)
Under the direction of the director of California programs:
- Organized programmatic activities including but not limited to meetings,briefings, webinars, and sessions at the biennialnationalconvening.
- Support the management of member working groups.
- Cultivate and maintain relationship with other philanthropy-support organizations, immigrant and refugee organizations, and other strategic allies and stakeholders.
- Represent GCIR at various events, conferences and meetings, including serving asa meeting facilitator, presenter, participant, and/or session organizer.
- Stay abreast of immigrant and refugee issues and policies and understand implications for philanthropy.
Information Resources (45%)
- Monitor immigration-related policies and research, curate background and resource materials for programs, and maintain up-to-date materials on the GCIR website.
- In collaboration with colleagues,develops information resources(including policy analyses,reports, issue briefs, talking points, funder recommendations,eNews,and website content).
- Take notes at meetings, conference calls, and other programs,and prepare summaries for either internal or external purposes.
- Draft, edit, and proofread presentations,program descriptions, and other assigned materials.
Fundraising, Membership, and Other (10%)
- In partnership with program and development staff, helpwrite andedit grant proposals,reports, and collateral materials.
- Support the maintenance and expansion of the GCIR membership.
- Contribute to GCIR’s internal organizational development,professional development, and evaluation work.
