Job DescriptionMay perform cytopreparatory staining and access colleagues, perform surgical case weighting with knowledge of anatomy, set up primary specimen cultures, inoculation of petri dishes for bacterial growth, clean and disinfect lab equipment, maintain inventory, participate in performance improvement activities, assist in evaluating new equipment, resolve customer service issues, support education to clinical staff. Follow safety policies, PPE, handwashing and chemical handling;
adhere to Chemical Hygiene plan, Infection Control policies. Collect patient, physician and test order information to create patient accounts, verify identification, insurance, credentials and requirements. May perform blood specimen collection, phlebotomy and skin puncture for all age groups.
- Assist in laboratory and hospital performance improvement activities.
- Perform various support activities to facilitate operation of assigned department or work area, including answering the telephone, clerical and receptionist duties.
- Perform point of care testing, and associated quality control, maintenance, troubleshooting, documentation and result reporting.
- Receive, process and transport patient specimens, including centrifugation and aliquoting.
- Load preanalytical instruments or deliver specimens to the testing department.
- Transport hazardous waste with proper training and PPE.
- Perform blood and/or blood component processing, storing, shipping, modifying and selecting compatible products using a validated Transfusion Information System.
- Other duties as assigned.
High School Graduate or Equivalency (Required)
Technical/Vocational School
Driver’s License (DL) – EV Accredited Issuing Body
Medical Lab Associate (MLA‑ASCP) – Accredited Issuing Body
Phlebotomy Technician (PBT‑ASCP) – EV Accredited Issuing Body
Pay Range$15.31 - $24.49
