Responsibilities- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment including Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Transmissions, Clutches, Differentials, and related components.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck systems and components as described above; inspect, test, and listen to equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments.
- Road test vehicles to confirm proper operation after repairs.
- Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate solutions with sound judgment.
- Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck, including periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle; conduct safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections.
- Communicate with clients to assess needs, provide information, resolve issues, and meet expectations.
- Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, Diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
- Document according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders using an iOS device and TRAIT application.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
- Work with a high degree of independence and manage daily schedule; maintain productivity within standard repair times.
- Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for repairs.
- Communicate with management and support teams to obtain approvals on repair estimates and discuss findings.
- Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and applicable regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
- Maintain the service truck and conduct safety checks and daily pre-/post-trip inspections.
- High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., higher degree/certification or 5 years’ related experience).
- Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties.
- Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
- Must be able to complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background check and DOT physical prior to employment.
- A valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining may substitute for a DOT physical; if four months or less remain, a DOT physical is required.
- Candidates must be at least 21 years old due to interstate operating authority.
- Valid driver’s license required and ability to obtain/maintain a Driver Qualification File.
- ASE T8 (PMI) certification (required within 18 months).

- Good spatial awareness and the ability to judge distances and object locations.
