Project Employee, NBA Social and Digital Branded Content - Commerce Platforms

WORK OPTION:
The NBA currently provides eligible employees the option of working remotely one day per week.

Position Summary

This position is part of the NBA’s Social & Digital Content team, which focuses on identifying, creating, distributing, and publishing content across the NBA Store’s social and digital platforms, as well as its domestic and international partners.

As demand for content on the NBA’s social and digital channels continues to grow, this is an opportunity to contribute to a fast‑paced, innovative, and collaborative environment while engaging fans around the world.

This is a temporary position with an expected duration not to exceed (10) months

The ideal candidate understands publishing and native social commerce tools used to drive merchandise sales. They can create — or collaborate with others to create — engaging video and graphic content for vertical platforms (e.g., Tik Tok, Reels, Shorts) as well as traditional social channels. They stay current with the latest social trends and know how to develop NBA content around them.

Most importantly, this person has their finger on the pulse of the league — following players, culture, and community both on and off the court.

Major Responsibilities
  • Manage the NBA’s @NBAStore social accounts
  • Develop, organize, and maintain a content planning calendar
  • Collaborate with the Consumer Products and Merchandising Partnerships teams to support key initiatives and tentpole sales events
  • Partner with internal Content Creation teams to produce video, graphic, or photo‑based content highlighting NBA Store products
  • Publish content across the NBA Store’s Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts — including writing copy, selecting hashtags, tagging relevant accounts, and applying effects, filters, or text overlays as needed
  • Work with commerce partners on tentpole planning and on‑site coverage of key events
  • Collaborate with the Partner Integration team to evolve content year over year, integrate products organically, and plan for priority tentpole moments
  • Partner with the Social and Digital Publishing teams to develop vertical video content series focused on NBA Store merchandise
  • Work with the Social Publishing team on native commerce opportunities across @NBA and @NBAStore platforms
  • Collaborate with Consumer Products Partnerships and Digital Strategy & Analytics teams to analyze performance metrics and optimize content for engagement and sales
Required Skills / Knowledge
  • Deep knowledge and passion for the NBA, its players, teams, coaches, and off‑court culture — including player fashion, footwear, music, hobbies, and community initiatives
  • Strong experience creating and publishing content for Tik Tok, Reels, Shorts, and Spotlight, as well as traditional social platforms
  • Understanding of native social shopping tools used to drive e‑commerce across platforms
  • Familiarity with social analytics and the ability to interpret performance data
  • Understanding of the NBA’s social voice and tone
  • Ability to work efficiently under deadlines while managing multiple projects with attention to detail
  • Comfort working in a fast‑paced environment and handling critical tasks calmly and effectively
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills
  • Receptive to feedback and able to implement direction quickly
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule — including nights, weekends, and holidays — based on the NBA calendar
  • A collaborative team player with a proactive mindset
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or a related field preferred
