Senior Mechanical Cx Engineer - Data Centers role at Veolia North America. Position

Purpose:

Senior Project Engineer - Performs & plans commissioning of mechanical systems. Must be a self-motivated & energetic professional. Must have understanding of building mechanical systems design, construction & operation. Must have experience with commissioning process of mechanical systems ranging in size, rating and complexity. The ideal candidate shall possess theoretical and practical knowledge in the commissioning, testing and troubleshooting of mechanical systems and related controls.

Responsibilities
  • Commission mechanical, plumbing & fire alarm and suppression equipment and related controls, primarily in data center environments.
  • Review system designs for compliance with client facility goals.
  • Prepare plans and procedures for execution of the commissioning process.
  • Conduct commissioning activities from the design phase through the occupation phase, in accordance with client requirements and industry commissioning process best practices.
  • Attend factory testing of equipment and document procedures and results.
  • Conduct functional testing of equipment.
  • Perform analysis of test results using instrumentation and prepare reports.
  • Fully document all field procedures including results, issues and observations using company templates or online applications.
  • Report on system performance and make technical recommendations on issues.
  • Coordinate and execute field activities with Project Manager and project teams.
  • Prepare and provide input on commissioning project documentation and schedules.
  • Draft comprehensive test procedures for a variety of equipment and systems.
  • Attend relevant project coordination and schedule meetings; may lead commissioning meetings or speak on technical topics.
  • Assist with submitting and maintaining daily commissioning reports.
  • Train and guide Associate Project Engineers and Project Engineers on roles and responsibilities.
  • Respond to project team and client inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Comply with company, client, and project safety requirements.
Qualifications
  • BSc/MSc in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of mission-critical project experience, or equivalent mechanical and/or controls experience.
  • Or a minimum of 7+ years of commissioning experience with mission-critical projects.
  • Experience in mission-critical facility commissioning is essential.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Organized, detail-oriented, analytical, proactive problem solver.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, work with limited supervision, and guide junior engineers.
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE or BCxA commissioning guidelines preferred.
  • Distributed control system experience is a plus.
  • Good understanding of building management systems (BMS) and/or electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS).
  • Experience with test instrumentation and data analysis.
  • Team player with a client-first mindset and ability to educate and guide Project Engineers.
Certifications & Training
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or commissioning certification is a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk up to 5 miles per day.
  • Carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to wear required PPE daily.
Work Environment
  • Travel nationwide 50% - 75% if not locally assigned; may have periods of higher travel.
  • Hybrid work environment.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Pay Range: $120,000 to $140,000 per year.
