Principal Mechanical Engineering Architect - Server & Rack Solutions

In this role, the Principal Mechanical Architect will lead the design and architecture of Server and Rack level solutions for customers in the Cloud Computing and Hyperscale industry. The position requires a deep technical background in server architecture, high‑speed design, power systems, and BMC firmware, combined with leadership and customer engagement skills.

• Develop long‑term hyperscale server technology strategies based on customer technical and business footprint.
• Drive integration of system‑level engineering strategy across internal teams and external suppliers.
• Maintain technical relationships with the core technology ecosystem, translating customer requirements into next‑generation designs.
• Identify differentiation opportunities and lead thought‑leadership discussions among engineering, customers, and business leadership.
• Work directly with customers on concept and development of custom hyperscale server and rack designs.
• Determine solutions for performance/operational problems, delivering business value through zero‑touch hardware.
• Architect server design, including product architecture, motherboard design, chassis layout optimization, and rack‑level implementation.
• Architect power design, including AC/DC converter design, rack power budgeting, and debug experience.
• Lead firmware architecture, including UEFI firmware, BMC firmware, OS/driver design, and industry security protocols.
• Apply expertise in operating systems, driver design, remote management, and Redfish APIs.

• B.S. in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering with 12+ years of direct industry experience (or M.S. with 10+ years).
• Experience with high‑speed design, signal integrity, power distribution, and x86/ARM/GPU platform architectures.
• Experience implementing high‑speed serial buses (SAS/SATA, PCIe, Infini Band, Fibre Channel, Ethernet) and memory buses (DDR4/DDR5, HBM).
• Deep knowledge of server & rack architecture, system‑level design, board‑level design, and server management.
• Strong knowledge of BMC functionality, telemetry, and design for security/Root of Trust.
• New‑product‑development life cycle experience and cross‑functional development leadership from concept to production.
• Ability to create detailed architecture specifications and drive business cases for new products and features.
• Understanding of datacenter network topologies and network technologies.
• Optional:
  Working knowledge of server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux) and server virtualization solutions.
• Optional:
  Knowledge of software driver implementation, IP schemas, and network protocols.
• Demonstrated ability to discover, learn, and apply new technologies.

• Base salary between $148,125 and $246,875 per year, determined on an individual basis.
