Analyst, Database - Epic Beaker II

Job Description

Database Analysts configure, maintain and optimize test information in Epic Beaker Application. They troubleshoot and coordinate all issues that arise in Beaker, serving as subject matter experts on solving complex issues, and must be very knowledgeable about the organization's policies, procedures and business operations. They train and mentor others.

• All duties of Level I
• Facilitate Beaker training for team members and mentor others
• Act as primary support and subject matter expert for Beaker database end users with experience in Aura
• Identify issues that arise in their database area as well as issues that impact other database teams and work to resolve them, including data distribution issues from upstream platforms
• Guide workflow design, build and test the system, and analyze other technical issues associated with Epic software
• Identify and implement requested changes to the system
• Perform post‑implementation reviews and testing to ensure standardization, synchronization, integrity and consistency, as well as to identify common problems and initiate corrective action. Testing includes areas such as report format, flagging, reflexing, calculations, and networking for accuracy and appropriateness.
• Serve as a liaison between end‑user workflow needs and Epic implementation staff
• Maintain regular communication with Epic representatives, including participating in weekly project team meetings
• Work with Epic representatives, your organization’s business community and end users to ensure the system meets the organization’s business needs in regards to the project deliverables and timelines
• Develop an understanding of operational needs to set the direction for the organization’s workflows by attending site visits and other integrated sessions
• Participate in training and work with end users
• Troubleshoot problems and questions
• Review the status of projects and issues on an ongoing basis with leadership
• Hold weekly communications with team members to discuss the status of deliverables, shared issues, end‑user concerns, budget and upcoming milestones
• Ensure compliance with database policies, procedures, conventions, and guidelines.

• Minimum 3‑5 years of experience in database maintenance in various systems
• Experience in clinical test database highly desirable
• Experience working in various aspects of laboratory systems
• Specimen process flow and transport knowledge of specimen requirements for routine and esoteric testing
• Project management experience
• Epic training and certifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• Epic Beaker Certification
• English Required
• Travel less than 10%

• MT (ASCP) preferred
• Other relevant Epic Applications, Aura Badge
